The base of the diving center Poseidon is located in a small dalmatian town of Tribunj. Which is just a couple of miles from a notorious turistic destination of Vodice. Sitting and sipping a morning coffe from the waterfront of tribunj with in a sight one can admire countless islands and breeding places randomly spread on a crystal surface of the adriatic sea. Among these, towards south, dominate larger islands of Kaprije, Kakanj and Žirje. While a few miles towards north there stands |
one of the most beatiful archipelags on the face of the earth, Kornats archipelag. It is hard just to name all the diving locations spread in a single wiev, and to dive them all one would take years. The status of the National park of nature, protectes kornats islands from exploatation of many of natural communities, and there for gives us an insight of an almost intact and virgin ecosystems. The beauty of the kornats literaly hids beneth every rock, on the surface and under the sea. Southern sides of many islands are cuf of in high clifs that find their end even up to hundred meters under the surface of the sea, witnessing of the awsom power of the nature. |

12 nautical miles from Tribunj stands the largest island of the archipelag of Šibenik, Žirje. During the winter there survives not more than hundred souls, even if, before the world war II and Peronospora, which infected all the grape fields causing mass emigration of the local population, on the island lived up to 2000 people. Žirje had always an important strategic role in all the wars fought in these areas. First war harbours were built by Austrian-hungaric empire, and in later times |
| Žirje was a fortress for Italians, Germans, JNA and Croatians. Hopefully the wars are behind us and the bays of Žirje are now just peacfull natural harbours for tierd fishermen and curious turists |

On Žirje our grand father bought a peace of land by the sea in 1979. From a small cottage, throw years, we built a complex of few houses that is an ideal base for a diving center and not only that. Until now we used it only for the needs of our large family, but since we found the diving center Poseidon our intent is that Žirje becomes one of our destinations and one of our starting points from which we can reach destinatins too far away from the coast and offer our guests somthing more than just diving. |
